About Hand in Hand – A Pioneer in Disability Inclusion in Georgia

Founded in 2010, Hand in Hand is one of Georgia’s leading NGOs working to promote inclusion, independent living, and self-advocacy for people with disabilities. With over 15 years of experience, the organization has become a global example of best practice, recognized by the World Health Organization as one of the most exemplary organizations in the field of disability support.

While Hand in Hand initially focused on family-style housing for people with disabilities, it has since expanded its services to meet a broader range of needs. Today, the organization offers:

  • Personal assistant services for adults with disabilities

  • Home care support for children and adolescents with behavioral challenges

  • Functional skills development therapy focused on building independence in daily life

Hand in Hand also provides training and knowledge-sharing to both its internal team and other professionals or organizations working in the disability sector across Georgia.

What makes Hand in Hand unique is its person-centered approach. The organization operates with a horizontal structure, where individuals' voices, needs, and choices are central to every service and strategy. Each person is seen as the expert of their own life, capable of defining their goals and leading their own support journey.
